About Dr. Greg Cheney

I'm a Northern California native from the Sierra Nevada Mountains with a love for the outdoors and adventure. The high sierra air and cold mountain streams still seem to call to me even though I haven't lived there for over sixteen years. I still love to get out into the high sierra backcountry and wish I had more opportunities to travel out west to do so.

Helping others improve their lives has always been a focus of mine even before my formal training as a pastor, Army Chaplain, and therapist. I have a passion for working with individuals, couples, and families that is rooted in helping others experience connected relationships.

With 21 years of experience helping individuals, couples, and families I apply scientifically--validated approaches to challenges in relationships. As a Certified Emotionally Focused Therapy trainer, supervisor, and therapist I frequently use Emotionally Focused Therapy as a means to do this.

When I'm not working with others you can find me trying to navigate the tricky world of connecting with my three teenagers. One of my favorite ways to relax is spending time with my wife of 24 years as we walk our 110lb german shepherd dog "Ingo."
