I specialize in couples therapy and marriage counseling. A pattern of disconnection, loneliness, and hurt can show up in the best of relationships. When this happens couples can experience poor communication, misunderstandings, and frequent arguing. This is especially difficult when there is a breach of trust or deep betrayal. I have found this pattern often looks like frequent arguments over minor issues. This can lead to a reluctance, or inability, to solve the major issues. Minor disagreements can become major arguments out of nowhere. This can leave you feeling like your relationship is out of control, or in a downward spiral, leaving you lost and alone in how to fix it.
The most important part of changing this is to uncover the pattern of disconnection and replace it with a pattern of connection. To do this, it is important to have a place where both you and your partner feel heard and understood. A place where you both can share your authentic perspective without feeling judged.
I have over 25 years of experience helping individuals and couples navigate life as a pastor, Army Chaplain, and therapist. My last four in the Army I spent as the Director of a counseling center on Fort Bragg, North Carolina. I spent years deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan assigned to airborne infantry and Special Forces units. Then, a career caring for soldiers and their families upon our return.
It is my greatest joy to have a front row seat to healing and transformation. I come alongside others and help them make sense of where they feel stuck. I often use Emotionally Focused Therapy to do this. This process can help you shift to experiencing your life and relationship in a new way. I support couples with relationship issues, communication challenges, and healing from infidelity. I also support individuals with anxiety, depression, and trauma (PTSD).
I realize reaching out is not easy, and stepping into therapy may seem overwhelming. When we get started, I will meet with you as a couple together for the first session. I will then meet with each of you in an individual session. After that, I will meet with you as a couple again. This helps me lay a strong foundation for how I can best help you meet your goals.
Couples therapy and marriage counseling can help you heal and strengthen your relationship (we). This enables you and your partner to become your best self (me). By becoming a better “we” in your relationship you become your best version of “me” as an individual.
As a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (NC #1862) and Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor (NC #S12826), my areas of focus include:
Couples Therapy | Premarital & Marriage Counseling | Anxiety & Depression | Trauma & PTSD
If you’re ready to get started, I offer a free 15-minute consultation to see if we are a good fit. I’d love to help you and your partner get the help you need to experience the relationship you long for.
